Since then however, not only have the superpowers retained nuclear weapons, but additional states have developed nuclear capability, and the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) seems to be in serious crisis. In May 2005, this treaty will be reviewed in conference at the United Nations in New York, and the churches will need to focus their advocacy and education efforts during the coming months leading up to this conference.
