Lake Forest Friends Meeting (Religious Society of Friends)

In addition to the work in India, Play for Peace is working in Guatemala, the Middle East, South Africa, Northern Ireland and North America. One of his more recent endeavors has been to work with the Ramallah Friends School to assist them in creating an environment for peace within their school community and the families of their students. This is a Palestinian community where there has been conflict for a long time and the school with its Quaker roots is seeking Play for Peace’s assistance in designing a program to teach peace.

Michael has seen the impact of playing together on youth from different backgrounds where there would traditionally be conflict. He believes that we can make an impact by empowering young people to teach peaceful ways to resolve conflict through play. He has witnessed the transforming powers of play and how the Play for Peace process builds leaders for peace.

There is more information about Play for Peace at http://www.playforpeace.org/ and the work that Michael is doing.
