Press briefing: Power-sharing and the humanitarian situation in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwean human rights activist Rev. Dr Levee Kadenge will share his insights on the political impasse that has been paralyzing the country for weeks, while more and more people die from hunger.
Tuesday, 28 October
2:30 pm

Ecumenical Centre, Salle I
150 Route de Ferney, Geneva
(TPG bus 5, Crêts-de-Morillon; free parking available)

Rev. Kadenge, a retired bishop of the Methodist Church, is the convener of the Christian Alliance of Zimbabwe and chairperson of the Save Zimbabwe Campaign, two organizations that have been at the forefront of the struggle for the protection of human rights, human dignity and the rule of law in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe's main political parties have signed a power-sharing agreement on 15 September, but have so far failed to agree on the formation of a government. Relief agencies estimate that, without emergency aid, 5-7 million Zimbabweans will starve by January 2009.

The briefing will include an opportunity for questions and answers.

Rev. Dr Levee Kadenge will speak in English. Translation to French will be available upon request.

The briefing is organized by the Zimbabwe Advocacy Office in Geneva, a special project of the World Student Christian Federation (WSCF), in partnership with the Fund for Development and Partnership in Africa (FEPA).
